About Iman

Software engineering, documented with care

I build backend systems, data pipelines, and developer tooling, and I write down the decisions behind them so the reasoning outlasts the code.

Background

Context, craft, and the work between

My work spans backend architecture, data pipelines, and developer experience. I am drawn to systems that stay readable after the original authors have moved on, and I spend a lot of time on the context that makes a codebase understandable.

Day to day, I sketch designs on paper, review changes with an eye toward clarity, and keep short notes on what I learned. I value clear written communication as much as clean system design, and I think the two strengthen each other.

Focus areas

Where my effort goes

The areas I return to most often, and the habits I bring to each.

Systems and architecture

Designing backend services and their boundaries, with attention to failure modes, operability, and how the pieces will change over time.

Data pipelines

Building reliable ingestion and transformation flows, with clear contracts between stages and checks that catch drift early.

Developer experience

Improving the tools, documentation, and feedback loops that help engineers ship confidently and understand unfamiliar code quickly.
